The Issue

Sex trafficking: The recruitment, harboring, transportation, provision, or obtaining of a person for the purpose of a commercial sex act.

All too often rescue does not mean freedom. For a woman being trafficked, the odds of being rescued are only 1 out of 100.

Those who are rescued often find themselves at emergency, domestic violence or homeless shelters, none of which address the unique needs of trafficking survivors.

Because these shelters are temporary, today, countless women who have been rescued from sex trafficking will have no where to turn. Once back on the streets, it is more likely that they will fall back into a life of sexual enslavement or exploitation.

North Star Initiative is on a mission to change that.

The Solution

Operating Lancaster County's first restoration home for survivors of sex trafficking, The Harbor will provide a long-term safe haven for women who need the psychological, physical, emotional and spiritual care that they deserve.

Serving women 18 to 40, The Harbor can house up to 10 survivors of sex trafficking and sexual exploitation at any given time, all from a holistic, Christ-centered focus.

The Harbor Restoration Program is a trauma-informed, strength based residential program. It is intentionally designed to treat the needs for female survivors of sex trafficking and create and implement individual care plans. Services provided include needs assessment, life skills classes, access to trauma therapy and support as well as planning and tools for safe, healthy, independent living.

Get Involved

As we embark on this journey of healing, we invite you to join us and help us restore women from sex trafficking. With every donation, a woman is better empowered to pursue her hopes and dreams by receiving the care and support that she needs.  As we walk alongside these women, every one of us can make a difference in the lives of sex trafficked survivors... for freedom, for life, forever!
