FOR FREEDOM. FOR LIFE. FOREVER.
North Star Initiative is opening the first restoration home
for trafficking survivors in Lancaster County, PA.
Human Trafficking: A modern-day form of slavery involving the illegal trade of people for exploitation or commercial gain. Traffickers use force, fraud, or coercion to lure their survivors and force them into labor or commercial sexual exploitation.
Sex trafficking: The recruitment, harboring, transportation, provision, or obtaining of a person for the purpose of a commercial sex act.
Today, atrocities are taking place in our own beloved Lancaster County; atrocities of such an unspeakable nature that North Star Initiative is taking action to raise public awareness and the necessary funds to open the County's first restoration home for survivors of human trafficking and sexual exploitation.
Currently, many survivors find themselves at shelters, be it emergency shelters, domestic violence shelters, etc. While offering a temporary haven, these shelters were never conceived to address the unique needs of a trafficked individual, which includes the extraordinary psychological, physical, emotional, and spiritual challenges that arise from sustained abuse.
