National Night Out

Come on out to National Night Out on Tuesday, August 6th at 5pm - 8pm located at Overlook Community Campus! National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live. National Night Out enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community. Furthermore, it provides a great opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances.

North Star Initiative is looking forward to being a part of this event this year and would love to chat with anyone who stops by! Feel free to come by our table for additional information on what’s going on at North Star!

Sex Trafficking is the buying and selling of women, girls, children and sometimes men to perform sexual acts against their will. They are held captive by an owner, who uses their body as a money making object.

Imagine feeling trapped with no way out. When caught in sex trafficking, the absence of fundamental human rights can paralyze even the most resilient. The related effects of sex trafficking are numerous, and a deep sense of shame, guilt and/ or hopelessness are also common to survivors of sex trafficking.

Why Pennsylvania is important:
We are a “pass-through” state as well as a destination location. Our proximity to metropolitan areas and interstate highways makes it easy for traffickers to move victims.
